Inflamed Seborrheic Keratosis

Seborrheic keratosis is a skin condition that is benign and caused by exposure to the sun for long periods. It is characterized by ugly spots which in the long run transform into hard granular crusts.  It is not a serious skin condition and those who have it only seek treatment for cosmetic reason. Seborrheic keratosis affects different parts of the body like the face, neck, upper arms and the hands. These are all areas that are usually exposed to the sun.

There are several types of seborrheic keratosis and one of them is the inflamed seborrheic keratosis. Inflamed seborrheic keratosis is simply irritated seborrheic keratosis. The scientific name for this skin condition is basosquamous cell acanthoma.  This type of seborrheic keratosis is characterized by a lot of itchiness on the entire body.

Inflamed seborrheic keratosis can be caused to start itching by the slightest of friction. This also includes the clothes that you wear. The worst cloths to wear when suffering from inflamed seborrheic keratosis are nylon clothes. These cause a lot of itchiness when rubbed against the growths. Jewelry like bangles, bracelets and necklaces can also trigger itchiness on the seborrheic keratosis.

This type of keratosis does not appear in the early stages of seborrheic keratosis. It appears in the late stages where the growths are no longer soft but hard and crusty. Inflamed seborrheic keratosis gives you the urge to scratch the area and not until you scratch, you will not have peace. With very intense scratching the spots may start to bleed when the crusts are shed off involuntarily and the underlying blood vessels rupture.

Seborrheic keratosis has a remedy but there is no known remedy for inflamed seborrheic keratosis and the best that you can do is to reduce the inflammation of the spots. This can be done by constant and regular baths using some certain types of lotions which will get rid of the shed off dry skin which causes the itchiness.

Ensure that you avoid nylon clothes and underwear as these make inflamed seborrheic keratosis worse. Cotton clothes are advised but it should not have any protruding furs which may trigger the irritations.

Inflamed seborrheic keratosis can be cooled down if you avoid things that will trigger itchiness. Ensure that you do not use a lot of jewelry and if you can avoid wearing them, it is best so that you do not make inflamed seborrheic keratosis even worse.
