Seborrheic keratosis is a skin condition that mostly develops in old people. It is characterized by benign outgrowths on the epidermis part of the skin. These outgrowths are almost similar to warts and differ in color, shape and size in different individuals. They are benign but may turn painful and itchy, though not often.

It is pretty obvious that these outgrowths are very unpleasant, and therefore one needs to get rid of them as soon as possible. There are many ways to treat seborrheic keratosis. In fact, some of the methods can easily be implemented at home, without having to visit a dermatologist.

A good seborrheic keratosis home remedy is the use of hydrogen peroxide. It is carefully applied on the outgrowths, making them turn white. After this, the outgrowths turn pink and scabs are formed after a period of time. For the spots to completely disappear, the hydrogen peroxide has to be periodically applied to the outgrowths, in intervals of about one week. It is also wise to always add a little bit hydrogen peroxide to bath water to avoid any re-appearance of the outgrowths.

This method of getting rid of seborrheic keratosis however needs one to take several precautions. One for example, has to ensure that the hydrogen peroxide has a concentration of 23 to 80%. Anything above that will severely burn the skin and leave ugly scars. To avoid any damage to the skin, it is also important to use a lubricant like petroleum jelly on the skin around the seborrheic keratosis outgrowths. This helps to avoid any irritation due to the corrosive hydrogen peroxide.

Another home remedy for seborrheic keratosis is the use of glycolic acid. A glycolic acid solution of a concentration of 30% is poured into a spray can. The solution is then gently sprayed on the outgrowths. This may be a little bit irritating but that is normal and should not cause any alarm.  However, if the irritation becomes unbearable, it is best to stop the treatment.

The solution should be regularly left on the seborrheic keratosis outgrowths for a couple of hours. You will notice ugly crusts being formed on the outgrowths, which fall off after sometime to leave healthy skin.
