Brown Skin – Seborrheic Keratosis

Many folks panic when they are told that they have seborrheic keratosis. Seborrheic keratosis also popularly known as barnacle of old age is a skin condition that causes lesions to appear on the skin that look rather ugly. It is mostly common to the old age. Seborrheic keratosis affects all types of skin be it light skin or dark skin. For individuals with brown skin you are very susceptible to seborrheic keratosis. The skin condition occurs as a result of excess production of keratin, the excess keratin is then deposited on the surface f the skin forming the lesions.

For people with brown skin the lesions are very conspicuous since the color of the lesions normally ranges from pink, red to grey. At early stage of growth it is very hard to know the presence of the lesions since they are not visible on the normal eye of a human being. With a magnifying glass you can easily see them since they range from a diameter of around 1mm. Seborrheic keratosis grows slowly and when they reach maturity they can reach a size of about 3 mm or even 6 mm. the lesions do not itch or irritate unless they are disturbed. When you pick or rub them they normally turn red and become very itchy.

The lesions appear anywhere on the skin of an individual as long as the part is often exposed to the sun. The most common areas include the arms, hands, neck, the back and the scalp. Brown skin individuals suffer the problem of staying with the skin condition since they look pretty ugly and can destroy someone’s public image. Also depending on where the lesions occur they can be disturbed by our outfits causing them to itch, irritate or even bleed. As much as it is recommended that you leave them alone most brown skin individuals are forced to get rid of the lesions on the skin.

There are therapies that you can take advantage of in getting rid of the seborrheic keratosis on your skin. Make it a habit to do a research on these methods before you apply them since some have their cons which if you are not aware of may cause panic. Some techniques like surgery or freezing may live scars on your skin. The scars can be very ugly at forts however; there are creams that can be used to fade away the scars.
